Therapy

The middle is messy, but it is also where the magic happens.

Brene Brown

At its most basic level, therapy is a place where you can be seen, heard, and valued. It’s where relationships - with yourself, with others - can improve and where shifts in mindset and behavior can occur. Therapy offers support, problem-solving skills, and stress reduction. It can help improve your communication, reduce self-judgment, and increase your ability to tolerate difficult feelings. You can feel validated, met with empathy, and, when appropriate, gently challenged. And, yes, therapy can also include joy!

I tend to specialize in working with young adults for individual counseling and in couples counseling for those in the first few years of their relationship. I especially enjoy working with those coming to therapy for the first time.

Often those who find their way to my practice are: high-ability learners and achievers; open to change but feel a little stuck; professionally ambitious, and growth oriented. They want to feel more connected, find more joy, change unhelpful patterns, improve emotional understanding and capacity, and be better able to find success in all areas of their lives.

Our focus in therapy is often:

  • Life transitions

  • Relationship challenges and/or transitions

  • Identity questions

  • Exploring the impacts of your family of origin

  • Anxiety

  • Perfectionism

  • Self-esteem and self-worth

  • Stress and burnout

  • Imposter syndrome

In Washington state, I hold an LMFTA (licensed marriage and family therapist associate) license and work virtually with clients who live anywhere in the state. I am an out of network provider and can provide a superbill for insurance reimbursement. Sessions are $150; I require an active credit card on file and your card will be charged after each session. If you would like to learn more about working together, click the link below to schedule a free consultation call. I currently do not have availability for new therapy clients in Washington state.

In Washington D.C., I am resident therapist at Counseling and Consulting on the Hill, a group private practice; I see clients virtually. The practice is in-network with Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) PPO and HMO plans, including Anthem and CareFirst. Fees vary by plan so I recommend contacting your insurance provider directly to learn your unique benefits (including copays and deductible requirements). Out-of-network sessions are $150 and the practice can provide a superbill for insurance reimbursement. If you are interested in learning more, you are welcome to read about the practice, view my bio, or request a (free) consultation phone call to see if I would be a good fit for you. I currently have limited availability for new therapy clients in Washington D.C.
