Relational Coaching

Curiosity is the beginning of knowledge. Action is the beginning of change.

James Clear

Coaching is a great choice for those who know things are pretty good in their relationships, but they could be improved - either a little or a lot. They’re looking for guidance and insight, and for someone to offer challenge and support. They want to have a strong foundation in their current or future relationship.

My coaching clients are often high achievers and performers, often successful in many areas while also knowing things aren’t quite “there” yet in relationships. Many are high-ability learners and workers with a desire for growth, improvement, and reflection. They often struggle with perfectionism which is unhelpful in their relationships with self and others. Most are looking to the future, wanting to set themselves up for success, however they define it.

In working with me, you will gain clarity on your values, goals, and priorities. We will explore aspects of your life, family, and relationship history to provide context for where you are today. And, perhaps most importantly, we take this insight and turn it into action. We will keep what is working and shift what needs to be changed.

Coaching Opportunities

Individual: focused on dating/relationships, this is an opportunity to develop new insight into your relational habits, values, needs, and goals. It is not required that you are in a relationship for individual relational coaching. Coaching can often be a helpful “reset” prior to entering a new relationship.

Couples: it is required that both members of the couple attend together. Relational coaching topics might look like:

  • Improving communication

  • Early-stage relationships (e.g. dating for less than 1-2 years)

  • Moving in together

  • Premarital

  • Life transitions (e.g. changes in education or job or relocating)

  • Planning for parenthood or expecting a new baby

  • Wanting a relationship “tune up”

  • Developing better conflict management skills

sessions and Fees

The number of coaching sessions varies based on your unique goals, needs, and preferences. We will discuss this together in our initial consultation call. Typically, I recommend 3-10 sessions with the option to extend as needed.

For individual relational coaching, my fee is $150 per 50 minute session. For couples relational coaching, my fee is $175 per 50 minute session. The 6-session premarital coaching package is $900 total. I require an active credit card on file; fees are charged on the day of service. Note that for coaching services, I do not accept insurance or send out superbills for insurance reimbursement.

Important Note

Coaching is not therapy. It does not diagnose, treat, or offer interventions for mental health disorders. In relational coaching, I do not provide mental health evaluations or treatment for conditions such as depression, anxiety, trauma, disordered eating, substance use disorder, or personality disorders. Coaching also does not deeply explore emotional trauma or psychological diagnoses. While it can provide valuable insight and relationship-building skills, it is not a substitute for mental health counseling, psychotherapy, or other psychological services. Coaching is not appropriate for couples or individuals in relationships characterized by high levels of conflict, volatility, contempt, or hostility. If there is a history of violence, abuse, or other serious relational concerns within the relationship, I will be unable to provide coaching services.
